April Schwingle is a potter and sometime professor. She is originally from Corinth, MS. She received a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design and later designed for an ad agency. She continued her education and received a Master of Arts in 3 Dimensional Art. She enjoys teaching as much as she enjoys clay. Her work has appeared in specialty shops, art shows, and Southern Living Magazine. She now resides in Greenville, SC with her husband, David and sons, Hank, Charlie, and Whit.
As a potter, my hope is that each piece I make will be handled and enjoyed. My work is influenced by the activities we do as individuals and how pottery can enrich and even add a hint of beauty to those activities. We live in a very disposable world; that is a reality we all feel and must endure, but it is a reality we can temper with simpler, more beautiful, and more transcendent daily choices. Each piece I make is an attempt toward that: function with a glance toward transcendent beauty.
